Thanks to Tommy for being a wonderful husband and posting these pics to our blog. Its hard to put Thomas down to get anything done. He is PERFECT! I love every minute of being a mom. This journey is better than we ever imagined.
Now that I have minute I figured I would tell the story of how this little guy came into the world. It was 6am on sat 7/25 and I was getting ready for work when I noticed a constant trickle...I thought....surely I wasnt peeing my pants.....I think my water broke. I called the doctor and then went to Good Sam as directed. At this time I did not have any contractions. On the way to the hospital I started to have mild to mod. cramping in my lower abd that would come and go about every 5 minutes......I was sure these were contractions.
After being checked the dr. informed me that yes my water had broken and I was 2cm 75% -2. He reassured me that everything was going great and Thomas would do very well despite his early arrival.
They put me in a room and we walked the halls for about 3 min. They said I could have my epidural but I decided to hold off.......not wanting the labor to slow down and I was able to tolerate the pain at this point. About an hour after being placed in our room the dr. came in to check me and I was 3 cm 100% and -1.
I continued to walk around for a little while until the pain became more intense. About 2 hours later the dr. came back to check me again and I was still 3cm. They decided to start a little Pitocin to help speed things up. Since my water had broken they wanted me to deliver within 24 hours.
1 1/2 hours later the dr. came back in to check me and i was 7 cm......things we happening fast! I eventually got my epidural and within about an hour to 1 1/2 hours the nurse checked me and found that I was 10cm , complete, +2..........it was time to push. We were all shocked. I pushed for about 1 1/2 hours and at 1625 Thomas Stephen was born 5lbs 15oz 18 3/4. The cord was wrapped around his neck.......his Apgars were 3,7. Scary but he turned around really quick and is doing better than ever expected. This was a WONDERFUL experience. We could not have asked for a better experience.
More pics to come soon. We are all doing great.
